Youth Club

La Marina & San Fulgencio

Erika and martin moved to Spain in May 2005.  Since moving to Spain they have become active members of the La Marina Community.  In June 2006 they were the main organisers of the        La Marina fun day which raised over 16.000 euro’s for two Cancer Charities AECC and MABs.  Then in May 2007 they organised a second fun day which raised just over 8,000 euro’s.  This money was divided by the two cancer charities and there new project the La Marina Youth club.

 

They decided to open a Youth club because there were no facilities for children on the Urbanisation and it was a struggle to entertain their own son Callum.  So they approached the mayor at the time Mariano Marti Sanchez and with his help they opened the club in April 2007.  Through continued problems and stresses, they remain positive and continue striving for better facilities for every child on the Urbanisation.

 

They were nominated for two categories in the Coastrider Pride of Spain Awards 2008, These were Beyond the Call of duty and Work in the community.  They won the first category.

 

Erika was also nominated for the Company Woman of the year awards 2008.  For the Woman in the Community category, she reached the Finals but unfortunately didn’t win.
